Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Agdz
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech to begin your journey towards southern Morocco. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which offers beautiful views of the valleys and traditional villages.
Next, visit the famous ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its traditional earthen houses and narrow streets before continuing to Ouarzazate. After an optional visit to Taourirt Kasbah, travel through the landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains towards Agdz. Overnight in Agdz.
Day 2: Agdz – Draa Valley – Zagora – Mhamid – Foum Zguid
After breakfast, follow the beautiful Draa Valley, known for its extensive palm groves, traditional earthen villages and ancient kasbahs. Pass through Zagora before reaching Mhamid, at the gateway to the Sahara.
Discover the desert landscapes surrounding this region before continuing towards Foum Zguid. Along the way, enjoy the contrast between the oases, mountains and arid expanses of southern Morocco. Overnight in Foum Zguid.
Day 3: Foum Zguid – Lake Iriki – Erg Chegaga Dunes
After breakfast, travel by 4×4 towards the impressive dunes of Erg Chegaga. Cross desert tracks and the wild landscapes of the Iriki National Park.
Stop near Lake Iriki, a vast desert plain that sometimes takes on the appearance of a lake after rainfall. Continue towards the dunes of Chegaga, among the most impressive in Morocco.
On arrival at the camp, enjoy some time to relax in the desert. Admire the sunset over the dunes and take a camel ride. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the camp and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the desert beneath the starry sky. Overnight at a camp in Chegaga.
Day 4: Erg Chegaga – Mhamid – Zagora – Tamegroute – Agdz
Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the Chegaga dunes. After breakfast, travel by 4×4 along the desert tracks towards Mhamid.
Continue towards Zagora and discover Tamegroute, known for its ancient library, kasbah and traditional green pottery. Then travel through the Draa Valley, passing palm groves and traditional villages before reaching Agdz. Overnight in Agdz.
Day 5: Agdz – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech
After breakfast, set off towards Ouarzazate. Cross the landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the villages of southern Morocco before reaching the High Atlas Mountains.
Cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and enjoy several panoramic views of the mountains and valleys. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic and the stops along the way. This marks the end of your 5-day Marrakech to Chegaga desert tour.
