Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
Depart from Fes and travel towards the Middle Atlas. Stop in Ifrane and continue through the cedar forest region towards Midelt. After crossing the Tizi n’Talghamt pass, descend towards the Ziz Valley, where palm groves and villages line the route. Continue through Erfoud and Rissani before reaching Merzouga. On arrival, settle into your accommodation and enjoy your first experience of the desert landscape. Depending on the time of arrival, you may have time to admire the dunes of Erg Chebbi before evening.
Day 2: Explore Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi Desert
Spend the day discovering the area around Merzouga. After breakfast, explore the desert villages and the landscapes surrounding the Erg Chebbi dunes. The day can include opportunities to learn about local traditions and the way of life in this Saharan region. Depending on your chosen package, you may take part in a camel ride or another organised desert activity. You will also have time to enjoy the scenery and the changing colours of the dunes. Overnight in your booked accommodation or desert camp, according to your selected arrangement.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast, leave Merzouga and travel towards Rissani, a historic trading town in the Tafilalet region. Continue to the Todra Gorges, where high cliffs rise above a green oasis. Enjoy time to walk through the gorge and admire the natural scenery. The journey then continues towards the Dades Valley, known for its unusual rock formations, traditional villages and kasbahs. Arrive in the valley and settle into your accommodation. The evening is free to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Day 4: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, travel through the Valley of Roses and the Skoura oasis towards Ouarzazate. Along the way, you will see palm groves, villages and traditional kasbahs. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take time to explore its earthen buildings and historic lanes. Later, cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Enjoy the mountain views before descending towards Marrakech. Arrival in Marrakech is expected in the afternoon or early evening, depending on road conditions.
